Shiozawa Kaneto was born in Tokyo and was a member of Aoni Production. His first seiyuu role was in the movie version of Hi no Tori in 1980.
He took roles from lovers to gag characters seriously and digested them easily. He excelled at presenting quirky (and in some cases abnormal) characters, especially the peculiarities of the intonations of beautiful villains, often speaking almost as if he were licking the microphone. His stage name came from movie director Shindou Kaneto, and he adopted the 塩沢 name himself. His wife was the former seiyuu Baba Harumi.
On the afternoon of May 9th, 2000, Shiozawa Kaneto fell down some stairs at his home. He sustained no external injuries, but lost consciousness that night. He was transported to the hospital, where he passed away suddenly of cerebral contusions a little after midnight. He was 46.
